Terra di Vento is a 60 hectare / 150 acre farm in the foothills of the Picentini mountains southeast of Salerno. Within sight of the Bay of Naples, the 4 hectares / 10 acres of vines benefit from a sunny exposition, sea breezes and a high enough elevation to escape the worst effects of the coast's high humidity. The grapes do ripen beautifully; the wines show all the sensuous qualities of coastal Aglianico and Fiano, and more.
Roberto Nicodemo and his team, including the young star enologo, Fortunato Sebastiano, have taken the winery firmly into the organic/biologico camp. Preserving this remarkably unspoiled terrain is a high priority for Nicodemo and his wife, Marialuisa Zottola, whose family has owned the farm for generations. This is why Terra di Vento will never become simply a wine estate. The vines share the land and nutrients with a many other crops and livestock, and there are no plans to upset the balance.
