Summary: Bursting with dark fruits, Petrale is a serious coastal Aglianico. Wine with character but it has enough souplesse to pair well with many dishes. Gives the Avellino hills Aglianicos a run for their money in complexity and depth of flavor

Soil: Calcareous and argillous. (Chalky and clayey)
Vineyard Management & Training: Guyot. 4800-5500 vines/hectare
Vinification: Long maceration on skins with daily punching down. First fermentation in stainless steel, malolactic in French barriques (50% in third-passage and 50% in new oak). Spends 9-10 months in wood, then returned to steel tanks for blending and bottling
Smells & Tastes: Ruby red color, purple highlights. Dark forest berries and earthy notes, cherry and damson plums, hints of balsamic, black pepper, licorice. Moderate tannins, very good acid balance. Long blackberry and cherry finish
