Name of Wine: Vigna del Forno
Producer: Cascina Gilli
Summary: Fresh and at the same time velvety, lovely raspberry notes predominate. Much softer and more structured than the usual Freisa, capable of ageing for a few years
Alcohol: 13.5%
Location/appellation: Freisa d'Asti DOC, Castelnuovo Don Bosco
Grape varieties: Freisa d'Asti 100%
Exposure: South/southwest
Altitude: 380 metres/1180 feet above sea level
Soil: Gray-blue clayey marl
Vineyard Management & Training: Guyot
Vinification: The skin is left on the grapes for 5-6 days, soaked in the must with frequent mixing to obtain a good extraction of color. Restricts the transfer of the high amount of tannin present in Freisa grapes. Stored in steel barrels for one year to preserve the freshness of its fruit. Bottled after 12 months, it matures in the bottle for several months and can be kept for several years
Smells & Tastes: The color is an intense ruby red. The nose has delicate hints of wild berries, an intensified raspberry with a lighter trace of blackberry and rose. Mild tannins. Excellent served with meat, mild mature cheese and with more demanding dishes like braised beef
