ABOUT THE Friuli REGION
Hills, valleys, fields, forests. Repeat
In the past decade Friuli has become a star region in the Italian wine world. Its fame rests largely on its white wines, ranging from crisp, mineral and dry to sweet and sumptuous. While the indigenous Friulano, aka Tocai, is the dominant local grape, the region excels in its Sauvignon Blancs and Rieslings. Among the reds, Refosco is the top local variety, but Merlot and the Cabernets are more often found. Though often termed "international" varieties, these and white grapes like Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc have been acclimated here for two centuries.

We are proud to add an organic winery, Aquila del Torre, to our portfolio. Owned and operated by the Ciani family, the vast property produces wines that are unmistakably Friulian, high-quality and pleasing from first sip to last.
